Moong Dal usli


Moong dal                 --  1 cup

Green chilly               --  2 to 3

Ginger                        --   small piece

Mustard seeds         --   ½ tsp

Hing                            --   a pinch

Salt to taste

Sugar                          --  ¼  tsp

Grated coconut        --  ¼ cup

Oil                               --   2 tsp

Water                         --   2 ½ cups

Curry leaves few



wash moong dal in a bowl and drain the water and keep aside.  Heat oil in kadai, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilly, ginger and pinch of hing  fry for a minute.  Add  2 ½ cups of water, salt and sugar and boil, then add washed moong dal cover and cook till the water evaporates and it becomes dry.  Then add grated coconut and mix well.  Serve as it is or with @povva chutney.
