Ponsa Appo / Jackfruit Paniyaram / Paddu

Another delicious jackfruit recipe and a perfect tea-time snack. Soft, mildly sweet, and filled with the natural flavour of ripe jackfruit, these little paniyarams are crispy outside and fluffy inside. A simple traditional treat that makes jackfruit season even more special.

Ingredients

Ripe jackfruit – 1/2 cup

Raw rice – 1 cup

Grated coconut – 1/4 cup

Jaggery – 1/4 cup (adjust to taste)

A pinch of baking soda (optional)

Salt 1/4 tsp

Ghee

Method

Soak rice for 2–3 hours and drain.

Grind rice and coconut with little water. Add jackfruit, jaggery, and salt, then grind to a smooth batter.

Mix in baking soda if using. No fermentation needed.

Pour into a greased appe pan and cook on low flame until golden on both sides.

Serve warm and enjoy with a cup of tea ☕
